police academy just last february, he was driving on quenton alaway road when he went off the side of the road and crashed into a utility pole, he was responding to a domestic disturbance. and now they are probing into a fire at a wilmington church. this is the way it looked when flames assaulted the new jerusalem baptist church. the church and several homes suffered damage. police are on the scene because there was north fire at the same church two weeks ago. katherine scott is live at the scene tonight. do police have any leads at all? >> reporter: investigator was not say if there are leads but they have been here throughout the day as crews moved away debris and rubble so they could access different points of the site.

>> whenever there is a church fire federal agents are brought in to make sure it's not a hate crime. heavy equipment tore through debris left by a devastating fire at this wilmington church, the roof charred and collapsed the bricks so carefully laid in the 60s tumbled in nearby streets. this is the second fire in as many weeks at the baptist church. eugene brock is pastor here for 31 years and got a call at 7:00 p.m. >> someone called me and said the church is on fire, i said you are joking, this was last week, two weeks ago we had a fire, no he said this is on fire now. >> the damage from the previous fire was mostly confined to the basement but last night the church was destroyed. atf officers were back on the

scene today trying to figure out how the latest fire began at a church known for helping so many. >> this church and pastor if you needed anything they would help you out. >> it has been here for as long as i can remember, a pillar in the community. >> six nearby homes are damaged and those residents are are being assisted by the red cross and police are looking for answers but for those that love this church there is no question as to what they will do. >> it's only a building but it's god's building, they burnt down the build or whatever happened with the building, but you see the cross is still standing. god is still in control. >> investigators will be back out here early tomorrow morning and there will be a presence here tomorrow night to make sure the scene stays secure.

on high alert as the police search for a killer. jackson says that a typical wednesday night was interrupted with violence in his southwest neighborhood. >> i go to the window and see a body in the street and blood and it's pretty brutal. >> a man walking his dog was shot and killed blocks from where he lived. the victim is 34-year-old mark marshall. >> it's a good neighborhood, really diverse but everybody gets along and i think because of how many shots were fired and at what close range there was nothing random about this. >> the victim was pronounced dead at penn medical center, the employee at the salt and pepper deli says the police confiscated video from their store and that the victim was seen arguing with another man and the argument was the motive for the shooting and they saw the shooter drive away

half inch to inch of rain, pushing off the eastern seaboard, here is the front and once the front moves through our winds will pick up and get rid of the fog, the call from accuweather fog and clouds, still mild and 39 in the suburbs, 45 for center city that is about our normal high for this time of year, tomorrow this front gets caught up and lingers off the eastern seaboard with another wave of low pressure developing along that, that means the clouds are tough to break east of philadelphia and eventually the clouds give way to afternoon sunshine and temperatures cooler than today and still relatively mild for december, 50 degrees and winds beginning to pick up from the northwest 10 to 20 miles per hour. and the winds will be whipping on saturday, high pressure is building in from the south and west with the low pressure intensifying and that pulls down the wind tunnel effect and the high of 42 degrees but wind
